Over 25 years, my journey has led me from boatyard engineering to the world of private yachts. From surveyor at Lloyds Register to heading up exterior design at the studios of Martin Francis and Bannenberg & Rowell.
I spearheaded the exterior brand now coming out of the Bannnenberg & Rowell Studio, led by yacht builds ‘Joy’ and ‘Avantage’; and previously was instrumental in the naval architectural development of ‘Motor Yacht A’ and ‘Eclipse’.
My design work has led me to collaborate and build upon my concepts at most of the well-established shipyards in Northern Europe including Lurssen, Feadship, Abeking & Rasmussen, Nobiskrug, Kusch, Oceanco, Lloyd Werft, CMN and Benetti.
I qualified in Naval Architecture at Southampton, am a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and a Chartered Engineer.
We specialise in the creation of progressive architecture from a blank canvas
At byJC, we specialise in the creation of progressive architecture from a blank canvas, balancing the architectural disciplines of interior, exterior and naval; working tirelessly towards the old adage ‘less is more’, the purity of form and function.
We choose to emphasise the journey, sketching by hand the initial stages of concept development, exploring the infinite permutations of our clients’ imagination, to find their unfolding vision.
This presides the path, delving into the essence of the design.
A segue between engineering and art, we challenge the technical complexities, facilitating this with the judicious use of technology, CAD, modelling and the digital world. Probing novel ideas that are achievable both financially and practically, exploring towards exquisitely functioning and beautifully formed yachts.
It is rigorous, exacting whilst also endearingly human and emotive.
